NEC launches world's thinnest fold-type, camera mobile phone

TOKYO, Japan - NEC Corp. has launched the world's thinnest folding-type mobile phone with a 1.3 mega-pixel digital camera on the Hong Kong market, the company said on Sept. 21. In the folded position, the phone, 96 grams in weight, is 11.9 millimeters thick. NEC will sell the new mobile phone in overseas markets, but not in Japan, which uses a different transmission system.             TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. said on May 14 it will put on the market on June 1 what it claims to be the world's first compact digital camera (in handout photo) with a resolution of 12.1 megapixels.               OSAKA, Japan - Horiba Itech Co. said April 6 the system engineering company will release April 10 a type of in-vehicle equipment (in photo) that automatically captures a video recording of the scene when the car is involved in an accident. The recorder is attached with a small camera that starts recording when detecting a strong impact to the car and records the moving image for 15 seconds before and five seconds after the impact.
