First Drone Based Healthcare-Specific Delivery Network Across The US

★ICELAND SUMMER 2017 Handout photo - Air Methods, the nations leading air medical service provider, announced the launch of Spright, a newly formed drone solution designed to help improve healthcare access and minimise supply challenges. Collaborating with Wingcopter, an industry-leading German drone manufacturer, Spright is creating a drone-based, healthcare-specific delivery network across the United States. Wingcopter's 65 x 198 x 152 cm (25.5 x 77.9 x 59.8 in) flagship eight-rotor drone can rise up vertically like a helicopter and then transition to fixed-wing horizontal flight once in the air. It can haul up to 6 kg (13 lb) of cargo, and can accommodate up to three packages (to a total of 5 kg/11 lb in weight) at the same time each lowered by its own winch from hovered flight. Range per charge is 75 km (46.6 miles) when hauling 5 kg, and maximum cruise speed is 144 km/h (89.5 mph).
