Okinawa starts removing pumice stones
Work is under way at a port in Kunigami in the southern Japan island prefecture of Okinawa on Oct. 29, 2021, to remove a massive amount of pumice stones that drifted ashore following an underwater volcanic eruption earlier this year. The arrival of the stones is disrupting fishing and tourism operations.
