STORYLINE:
Kuwait celebrated on Saturday evening the Gargee'an festival during the holy month of Ramadan.
Gargee'an is a festival observed on the 15th night of Ramadan when children dress up in traditional folk clothes and go door-to-door to receive sweets and nuts from neighbors, while also singing traditional songs.
The tradition of celebrating the festival has existed for hundreds of years and is deeply rooted in the culture of the Gulf Arab countries.
After a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the children were overjoyed at the return of the Gargee'an celebration.
Although the celebration, rituals and names differ from one country to another in the Gulf region, Gargee'an remains an important cultural and social heritage in the region.
