The 88-km Yongchuan section of the Linjiang River, a tributary of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, was once plagued by severe ecological degradation. In 2020, the average surface water quality of the river was graded Class III. Notably, the surface water quality of the Linjiang River was greatly improved from pre-2017 levels, when it was classified as Class V.
