STORYLINE:
Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), the country's state grains buyer, said on Tuesday that it had canceled a tender for wheat, which was announced on Sunday.
The GASC explained that the decision was taken due to the high bid prices, compared to the official estimates.
The international tender included five import origins: the U.S., Canada, Australia, Argentina, and Brazil.
In June, GASC contracted 815,000 tonnes of wheat in tender from France, Romania, Russia and Bulgaria in addition to 465,000 tonnes of wheat in another tender from Russia, Bulgaria, and Romania. Both tenders are scheduled to be shipped from July till October.
