The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday recommended the disqualification of Jharkhand Chief Minister (CM) Hemant Soren after allegations of corruption were leveled against him, said media reports.
Soren belongs to the political party "Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)", and runs a coalition government in the state. Following the latest political development, he summoned all the JMM lawmakers to the state capital Ranchi to hold a closed-door meeting and chalk out the further course of action.
Soren has been allegedly found involved in awarding mining contracts to himself and those close to him while being the chief minister of Jharkhand, thus violating office of profit provisions.
