STORYLINE:
As the deadline for subsidized set-top boxes approaches in South Africa, the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies has increased public awareness of the national broadcasting digital migration and analog switch-off.
The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies has announced a new registration deadline of Sept. 30 to complete the migration from analog to digital for improved services.
The final switch-off date will be announced later.
The extended window gives needy households another chance to sign up for government-funded set-top boxes.
South Africa's migration to digital TV is 11 years behind schedule.
