STORYLINE:
Spain's inflation rate fell by 0.4 percent to 10.4 percent in August, but remains above 10 percent for a third consecutive month, according to preliminary data published by the Spanish Statistical Office (INE) on Tuesday.
The data, which will be confirmed on Sept. 13, ends a run of three consecutive months of price rises, although inflation remains in double-digits.
The INE says August's slight fall in inflation is mainly due to a drop in the prices of gasoline and other liquid fuels, which offset increases in the cost of electricity, food, dining in restaurants and bars, and holidays.
