STORYLINE:
A South African official on Wednesday urged developed countries to uphold their commitment to providing developing countries with 100 billion Rand (5.57 billion U.S. dollars) in climate aid to assist them in making the switch from coal to cleaner energy.
South Africa's Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Barbara Creecy made the statement at the national stakeholder meeting about South Africa's stance at COP27 on climate change.
This commitment was made during COP15 in Copenhagen in 2009.
