Presidents of 'happoshu' makers oppose tax hike plan

The three major brewers that produce ''happoshu,'' a low-malt, beer-like beverage, voiced strong opposition to government plans to raise taxes on the increasingly popular drink. Happoshu, which is priced less than beer due to lower tax rates, is attracting a growing number of consumers and has captured about 25% of the overall beer market.
