Former coal miners file suit over lung disease

NAGASAKI, Japan - Former coal miners enter the Nagasaki District Court on March 4 to file a lawsuit against Matsushima Coal Mining Co. and its parent firm Mitsui Matsushima Co., both based in Fukuoka. They are seeking compensation for a lung disease.

Livedoor's Horie says firm will take legal action

TOKYO, Japan - Livedoor Co. President Takafumi Horie holds a press conference Feb. 23 after Nippon Broadcasting System Inc. said it will issue Fuji Television Network Inc. warrants for new shares to ward off Livedoor's takeover bid for the radio broadcaster. Horie said his firm will file a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court, seeking a court order to bar the radio broadcaster's plan.
