11 developing nations call on IWC to resume whaling

SHIMONOSEKI, Japan - Representatives of 11 small countries in the Caribbean, Oceania and Africa speak about their pro-whaling position at a press conference in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, on May 20. They urged the International Whaling Commission (IWC), which started its annual plenary meeting the same day, to allow resumption of commercial whaling.
