Swiss watchmaker unveils bejeweled Christmas tree

TOKYO, Japan - Swiss luxury watchmaker Piaget unveiled a Christmas tree decorated with about 1.35 billion yen worth of diamonds, jewelry and timepieces to invited members of the press in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Dec. 7. The 6-meter tree features over 100 carats worth of diamonds, including a 154 million yen watch sporting a 44-carat diamond and an 82 million yen ring with a 5.5-carat diamond.

TOKYO, Japan - A Christmas tree decorated with 11.5 million yen worth of jewelry including diamond watches and bracelets stands in a 250-square-meter suite at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo hotel in Tokyo's Nihombashi district. Diamond-studded Christmas tree going for 200.7 million yen

TOKYO, Japan - A diamond-studded Christmas tree is on display at the Nihonbashi Takashimaya department store in Tokyo on Nov. 13. The 40-centimeter-tall Christmas tree is studded with 400 diamonds, the largest weighing 3 karats, and lined with chemically treated miniature roses. The Christmas tree comes with a teddy bear with a diamond necklace. Takashimaya says the set was specially designed for Christmas 2007 with the price set at 200.7 million yen. Without the diamonds, the tree and the teddy bear carry a more affordable price tag: 52,500 yen. The diamond Christmas tree set will be displayed for public viewing from Nov. 14 to Dec. 4.

TOKYO, Japan - A 100 million yen, diamond-decorated mobile phone strap is displayed for New Year sales at the Nihombashi department store of Takashimaya Co. on Jan. 2. Many shoppers stopped to admire the strap, which is beautifully decorated with a 6-carat yellow diamond.

100 mil. yen Christmas cake decorated with diamonds on sale

OSAKA, Japan - A woman looks at a Christmas cake, which is decorated with some 100 diamonds and priced at 100 million yen, at Takashimaya Co.'s department store in Osaka on Dec. 15. The cake decorated with the diamonds worth a total of around 50 carats from southern Africa will be put on display through Dec. 25 even if it is sold before then, the store said.

Jewelry maker to sell platinum Snoopy doll for commemoration

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a platinum Snoopy doll which Jewelry maker I.K. Co. will offer for sale to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the popular cartoon character. The company said Dec. 14 it will produce and sell 10 units valued at 5.5 million yen each for orders through department store operator Isetan Co.'s principal store in Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward. Covered with 231 small white and pink diamonds, the doll is about 5 centimeters high and weighs 300 grams.

Seiko Watch to sell 15 mil. yen special wrist watch

TOKYO, Japan - Seiko Watch Corp. will put on the market in mid-September one special luxury Credor-brand model wrist watch (photo) priced at 15 million yen to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Dutch diamond cutter Royal Ascher, the company said Sept. 11. The watch contains 230 custom-made Ascher-cut diamonds totaling 6.7 carats on parts of its case and dial as well as the watch band.
