Toyota unveils fully remodeled Harrier SUV

NAGOYA, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. on Feb. 17 begins selling its wholly remodeled Harrier luxury sport-utility vehicle (SUV) (photo), sold by the name of Lexus RX overseas. For safety, the top-of-the-line ''AIRS'' model uses millimeter-wave radar to observe vehicles and objects on the road ahead to judge whether a collision is unavoidable and imminent in light of their position, speed and course. The second-generation Harrier comes in two engine sizes, 2400 cc and 3000 cc. Prices range from 2.49 million yen to 3.67 million yen depending on the equipment offered.

The four-wheel-drive Element, made by Honda of America Mfg. Inc. and powered with a 2400 cc DOHC engine, will carry a suggested retail price of 2.59 million yen.
