NTT DoCoMo develops wristwatch-style PHS mobile phone

TOKYO, Japan - NTT DoCoMo Inc. said March 26 it has developed the world's first wristwatch-style personal handy-phone system (PHS) mobile phone (top). The WRISTOMO, whose name is a fusion of wrist and mobile, fits the user's wrist when folded and looks like a regular digital watch. When two buttons above and below the watch face are pressed, it opens up into a PHS handset (bottom L and R). The company will market the phone on the Internet, possibly in April for between 30,000 yen and 40,000 yen.

There will be two plans for NTT DoCoMo's new DCMX credit card services. DCMX mini, to be launched on April 28, will offer a monthly credit limit of 10,000 yen, while full-scale DCMX services, allowing subscribers to carry out bigger transactions by using their phones and credit cards, are expected to begin in late May.

NTT DoCoMo launches lightest 3G FOMA mobile handset

TOKYO, Japan - NTT DoCoMo Inc. launched nationwide sales on Feb. 4 of its new third-generation FOMA mobile phones weighing only 104 grams, the lightest among FOMA handsets, the company said. Users of the phone, P901i 3G FOMA, can customize colors and designs with the purchase of ''custom jackets'' that can be installed on the handsets. The phone sells for around 35,000 yen.
