(1)Kyoto University institute grows Japan's first ES cells

KYOTO, Japan - Norio Nakatsuji (R), director of the Institute for Frontier Medical Sciences of Kyoto University, gives a press conference May 27. He said his institute has cultivated Japan's first embryonic stem (ES) cells that have the potential to grow into nerve and organ tissue. The institute hopes to distribute the cells for free to research facilities nationwide.
