Sanyo devises system to control various installations in house

OSAKA, Japan - A man tries a mobile terminal of a system that Sanyo Electric Co. has developed to remotely control home appliances, security equipment and other installations in a home. Sanyo said Jan. 7 it will begin marketing the new network system later in 2004 as part of homes sold by its housing subsidiary Sanyo Homes Co. and other concerns. The company hopes to chalk up 25 billion yen in sales in 2006. The system will be priced at 10% of home prices, according to a Sanyo executive.
