Dr. Nakamatsu wins Ig Nobel Prize for documenting meals

NEW YORK, United States - Yoshiro Nakamatsu (file photo), commonly known as Dr. Nakamatsu, won the Ig Nobel Prize in the nutrition science category on Oct. 6 for taking photos of all his meals over 35 years and analyzing the effects of food on brain activity, health condition and life duration. The prize ceremony was held at Harvard University in Boston as the award is sponsored by the science humor magazine Annals of Improbable Research linked with the university.

Japanese musician Kitaro wins Grammy

LOS ANGELES, United States - Japanese musician Kitaro (file photo) was awarded the Grammy Award for Best New Age Album on Feb. 21, becoming the first Japanese artist in 12 years to win a Grammy. ''Thinking of You'' by the 48-year-old musician beat out four other nominees in the New Age category at the 43rd Grammy Awards, the U.S. music industry's most prestigious awards ceremony that honors more than 100 musicians every year.
