Mining firm, parent ordered to pay damages to black-lung victims
NAGASAKI, Japan - Plaintiffs gather in front of the Nagasaki District Court on Dec. 13 before the court ordered Matsushima Coal Mining Co. and its parent, Mitsui Matsushima Co., to pay about 900 million yen in damages to the bereaved families of six deceased workers and 56 surviving black-lung disease victims.
