People Staff to let robots care for seniors, work as receptionists

NAGOYA, Japan - An employee of People Staff Co. shows off two robots at a press conference on Jan. 25. The company said it will begin offering them for use in the care of residents of homes for the aged or to work as receptionists at offices in February. Yorisoi ifbot (L) quizzes seniors in order to prevent them from becoming senile while Kitty Robo (R) greets a visitor with a voiced message upon recognizing him or her with a sensor and transmits the image and voice of the visitor to the computer of a user in another room. The service is the first of its kind by a staffing service company, according to the Nagoya-based firm.
