New landmark opens in Tokyo's Omotesando shopping area

TOKYO, Japan - Omotesando Hills, a 34,000-square-meter commercial-residential complex in Tokyo's Omotesando district, is crowded with shoppers on Feb. 11, its opening day. Omotesando Hills contains 38 apartments and 93 boutiques, restaurants and other shops.

                    TOKYO, Japan - People take to a new landmark business and commercial complex that opened on March 30 in Tokyo's Roppongi district, featuring a 248-meter-tall tower, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the capital, as its core facility. The Tokyo Midtown complex, built on the 10-hectare site of the former Defense Agency under a 370-billion-yen project, houses luxury hotel Ritz-Carlton Tokyo on the upper floors of the tower.

                      NAGOYA, Japan - The ''JR Central Towers'' building complex at JR Nagoya station (in an undated file photo) has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest facility built over a railway station, Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) said Feb. 27. The complex, consisting of two high-rise buildings 51 stories and 53 stories high respectively, is 245 meters tall with a total floor space of 410,000 square meters. It houses restaurants and offices as well as a department store and a 780-room hotel.
