Emperor Akihito thanks people for celebrating childbirth

SAPPORO, Japan - Emperor (R) and Empress Michiko bow to express their gratitude at the International Microscopy Congress in Sapporo on Sept. 6 after participants greeted them with congratulations on the birth of the imperial family's first baby boy in nearly 41 years.
