Fingertip car ignition to help thwart car theft
TOKYO, Japan - Hitachi Ltd. said Oct. 22 that it has developed an antitheft device using a finger vein verification system, as shown in this picture. The company says a vehicle equipped with the system can only be started by a driver whose finger vein pattern has been stored in the vehicle's computer. The system can also be used to automatically adjust the position of the driver's seat and the preferred temperature inside the car, it said.
