Matsushita cord phone set receives incoming fax on screen

OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. has released a cordless phone set that receives a fax on the screen, instead of printing out, with no fax sending capabilities. The fax data, as well as voice recordings, can be stored in the machine's internal memory or in an SD memory card. The machine, Otakkusu Junior VE-GP62DL, retails for about 20,000 yen.

The battery, to be sold under the brand name ''Evolta,'' lasts 20 to 50 percent longer than Matsushita's current alkali batteries, the company says. Evolta will be sold in Japan from April 26. An triple-A ''Evolta'' pack will be priced at just under 600 yen, about 20 percent more expensive than current Matsushita alkali batteries.

                  OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said Nov. 13 it will release a compact electric massage chair (photo) that is about 30 percent smaller than its flagship model ''Real Pro'' for sale in Japan on Jan. 1. The new massage chair, ''Urban I,'' is 110 centimeters high and the base measures 74 cm by 107 cm. Matsushita puts the suggested retail of ''Urban I'' at 230,000 yen, about half the price of the ''Real Pro'' model.

                    OSAKA, Japan - Sanyo Electric Co. has released what it claims to be the world's smallest and lightest full high-vision digital movie camera DMX-HD100, which the company says can record 43 minutes of full high-vision video on a 4-gigabyte SD memory card.                       OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said on May 30 it will inspect and repair free of charge some 3 million units of various home electric applainces, saying they may emit smoke or catch fire. Subject to the program are 1.93 million microwaves (C), 300,000 refrigerators (L) and 780,000 clothes dryers (R), the company said.
