Father of 13-year-old Filipino girl detained over illegal stay

WARABI, Japan - Sarah Calderon (R), wife of Arlan Calderon, an undocumented Filipino man, bids farewell to her daughter Noriko at Noriko's junior high school in Warabi, Saitama Prefecture, on March 9. Arlan Calderon was detained later at the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau for illegal stay and was told that all three in the family will be deported March 17 unless they make a decision on whether they will depart from the country or leave behind the 13-year-old girl in Japan. The bureau allowed Sarah and Noriko to stay in Japan for another week.
