Japan braces for 1st total eclipse in 46 yrs
TOSHIMA, Japan - This July 18 photo from a Kyodo News-chartered helicopter shows Akuseki Island south of the southwestern Japan prefecture of Kagoshima. A total solar eclipse can be observed on the island on July 22 for 6 minutes and 25 seconds, which will be the world's longest duration of the space show seen from an inhabited area in this century. The total eclipse will be the first in 46 years that can be seen from Japanese territory.
