Fast Retailing, Grameen Bank to set up social joint venture

TOKYO, Japan - Muhammad Yunus (L), the head of the Grameen Bank Group of Bangladesh, and Tadashi Yanai, chairman and president of Fast Retailing Co., the operator of the Uniqlo clothing chain, shake hands during a press conference at a hotel in Tokyo on July 13, 2010. Yunus and Yanai announced an agreement to set up a joint venture, tentatively named Grameen Uniqlo Ltd., in Dhaka. Yunus, the founder of the microfinance organization, and the bank were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.
