Nippon Sharyo to build U.S. diesel train cars

NAGOYA, Japan - An artist rendering shows the diesel train of the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit agency in California that Nippon Sharyo Ltd. plans to manufacture. Japan's largest rolling stock maker said Dec. 16, 2010, that it has won an order for 18 cars of the train.

        NAGOYA, Japan, Dec. 21 Kyodo - Nozomi No. 34, a shinkansen bullet train in which a crack was found in the undercarriage of one of its cars, is hooked up to another shinkansen at JR Nagoya Station on Dec. 15, 2017 prior to being moved to a repair facility. The train in question was stopped at the station in central Japan on Dec. 11 after an abnormal sound was detected.

The test was conducted using new LO-series cars on the track between Uenohara and Fuefuki in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo. A maglev train service will start between Tokyo's Shinagawa Station and Nagoya in 2027.
