Tokyo Governor's extraordinary press conference on raising the alert level of the new corona to the "highest level

On April 15, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike requested the cooperation of Tokyo residents and businesses in accordance with the Act on Special Measures against the New Coronavirus, after an expert panel raised the status of the new coronavirus infection in Tokyo to the most serious of four evaluation levels. Governor Koike said, "The metropolitan government is in a state of 'infection spread alert,'" and called on people to refrain from going out of the city and avoid using stores in downtown areas at night without adequate infection control measures. As for the government's "GoTo Travel" tourism promotion plan, which is scheduled to be launched on March 22, he said, "In light of the current infection situation, I hope (the government) will carefully reconsider the timing and method of implementation. Tohoku University and TEPCO to conduct joint research on decommissioning

The term is five years. The division will conductresearch in a wide range of fields to solve various technical problems at the decommissioning site, including evaluation technology to detect the aging deterioration of structures. With the aim of fostering human resources, a CFReND branch office will be established at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant site this summer. On-site exchanges of opinions between engineers at the decommissioning site and Tohoku University faculty and graduate students will be promoted. Station Desk, a shared office opened in JR East's Tokyo Station.

On April 21, JR East opened its first shared office store, "STATION DESK Tokyo Marunouchi," in Tokyo Station. It is located near the south ticket gate of Marunouchi Station and occupies a former office of approximately 50 square meters. The 16 seats are available by reservation only, with six types of seating available to suit different work styles. The office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with wireless LAN, power supply, and tea machines available. For the time being, the fee is 150 yen per 15 minutes, excluding tax. JR East has been operating "Station Booths," box-type shared offices in four stations in Tokyo, and plans to increase the number of locations to 30 in fiscal 2020. Kashiwazaki Mayor Sakurai receives a proposal from TEPCO to decommission the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station.

Masahiro Sakurai, the mayor of Kashiwazaki City in Niigata Prefecture, said on April 19 that the decommissioning plan for the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station submitted by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) Holdings, Inc. In August, the company announced its intention to decide on a policy of decommissioning one or more nuclear reactors within five years if it were to resume operations of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa No. 6 and No. 7 reactors and secure a non-fossil power source ratio of more than 40%, combining renewable energy and nuclear power. Although the reactors passed the government's safety inspection in December 2017, Niigata Governor Hideyo Hanazumi has said that he will not discuss restarting the reactors until the results of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Accident Verification Commission's review are available. Utility shows procedures for resuming Sendai reactor
