GE, Hitachi vow long-term support

TOKYO, Japan - Jeffrey Immelt (R), chairman and chief executive officer of General Electric Co., and Hiroaki Nakanishi, president of Hitachi Ltd., hold a press conference after talks with Japanese industry minister Banri Kaieda at the industry ministry in Tokyo on April 4, 2011. The chiefs of the U.S. and Japanese firms, which supplied reactors at the crisis-hit Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, vowed to offer long-term assistance to help bring the emergency under control and later clean up the radiation-contaminated site.
