Gov't asks Chubu Electric to stop Hamaoka nuclear plant

TOKYO, Japan - Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan speaks during a press conference at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on May 6, 2011. Kan said the government has asked Chubu Electric Power Co. to suspend all the nuclear reactors at the Hamaoka nuclear power plant in Shizuoka Prefecture, citing experts' forecast of a major earthquake that could hit the region.
