Ex-AUM cult member given prison term

TOKYO, Japan - Lawyer Taro Takimoto (R) holds a press conference in Tokyo on March 27, 2012, after the Tokyo District Court earlier in the day sentenced former AUM Shinrikyo cult follower Akemi Saito to 14 months in prison for harboring former senior AUM member Makoto Hirata, who had been on the run for nearly 17 years.             TOKYO, Japan - Minoru Kariya, the son of one of the victims killed by members of AUM Shinrikyo, enters the Tokyo District Court on Jan. 21, 2014, to attend the trial of Makoto Hirata, a former senior member of the doomsday cult. Hirata is charged with involvement in the abduction and confinement of Kiyoshi Kariya, then 68, in February 1995 in conspiracy with AUM founder Shoko Asahara.
