UN says Syrian observers still needed

TOKYO, Japan - File photo shows United Nations Undersecretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Herve Ladsous. During a press conference at the U.N. headquarters in New York on May 1, 2012, Ladsous said the world body intends to deploy up to 300 cease-fire monitors to Syria initially but has only received offers for around half that number thus far.
