Tomioka silk mill
TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken from a Kyodo News helicopter on Aug. 23, 2012, shows the Tomioka silk mill in Gunma Prefecture, which was completed in 1872 as Japan's first silk plant using then state-of-the-art Western technology. Japan formally decided Aug. 23, 2012, to recommend that UNESCO approve the silk mill as a World Cultural Heritage site.
