Tokyo governor comments on Senkakus

TOKYO, Japan - Tokyo Gov. Shintaro Ishihara holds a press conference at the metropolitan city hall in the capital after Japan's central government signed a contract with a Japanese private owner to buy three of the Japan-controlled Senkaku Islands, which are claimed by China, for 2.05 billion yen on Sept. 11, 2012. The Tokyo governor said he will not hand over about 1.47 billion yen in donations the metropolitan government has collected from the public to purchase the Senkaku Islands unless the central government promises to build a jetty and other fishing facilities there.
