TOKYO, Japan - Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga tells a press conference at the prime minister's office in Tokyo on Jan. 21, 2013, that seven Japanese nationals, who were employees of engineering firm JGC Corp., have been confirmed dead following a hostage crisis in Algeria. Islamist militants attacked a gas plant in In Amenas, southeast Algeria, on Jan. 16, taking workers of many nationalities hostage. The Algerian military ended the standoff on Jan. 19.
