Japanese developers unveil robot astronaut

TOKYO, Japan - Tomotaka Takahashi, a roboticist at the University of Tokyo, unveils Kirobo (L), a small talking humanoid robot, and a backup robot called Mirata, in Tokyo on June 26, 2013. Kirobo, which is 34 centimeters tall and weighs around 1 kilogram, will be sent to the International Space Station in August to communicate with astronauts stationed for long periods.
