Monk admires golden phoenix statue at Kyoto temple
KYOTO, Japan - A monk smiles as he looks at one of a pair of phoenix statues that have been newly gold-plated at Byodoin temple in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, on Feb. 24, 2014. The statues are used to decorate the rooftop of the temple's Phoenix Hall, a Japanese national treasure and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
