Newly gold-plated phoenix statues shown at Kyoto temple

KYOTO, Japan - A pair of phoenix statues that have been newly gold-plated are shown at Byodoin temple in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, on Feb. 24, 2014. The statues are used to decorate the rooftop of the temple's Phoenix Hall, a Japanese national treasure and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
