JR Tokai's L0 maglev train unveiled to media

TOKYO, Japan - Central Japan Railway Co. unveils its new L0 series maglev train to the press at its experimental center in Tsuru in Yamanashi Prefecture, central Japan, on Sept. 22, 2014. The railway company aims to start operation of the magnetically levitated train, capable of running at a maximum speed of 500 kilometers per hour, in 2027.

                New train for Yamagata Shinkansen Line

                A new shinkansen train, the E8 series, is being unloaded from a vessel at a port in the Miyagi Prefecture city of Sendai, northeastern Japan, on Jan. 29, 2023. The train will be introduced on the Yamagata Shinkansen Line in the spring of 2024, replacing the E3 series and raising the maximum speed of the service from the current 275 kilometers per hour to 300 km.
