Pathogenic bird flu strain detected at Japan poultry farm

MIYAZAKI, Japan - Local officials in the southwestern Japan prefecture of Miyazaki head for a chicken farm in the city of Nobeoka on Dec. 16, 2014, to cull all the roughly 4,000 chickens after a genetic test confirmed a highly pathogenic H5 strain of avian influenza in three birds there.
