JMA shows next weather satellite's data center to press

TOKYO, June 29 Kyodo - The Japan Meteorological Agency discloses the operation room of the data management center for Japan's next weather satellite Himawari-8 in Tokyo during a press preview on June 24, 2015, ahead of the official start of operations in July.

                    TANEGASHIMA, Japan - An H-2A rocket carrying the Himawari-8 weather observation satellite lifts off at 2:16 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2014, at the Tanegashima Space Center in southwestern Japan. The new weather observation satellite, the first since the currently operating Himawari-7 was launched in February 2006, is expected to improve the accuracy of weather forecasts related to natural disasters.
