Thailand limits access to morgues to fight diseases

PHUKET, Thailand - A makeshift online database room set up at the Phuket provincial government office is crowded with people seeking information about their missing kin on Jan. 3. The Thai government asked foreigners searching for their missing friends and family members to refrain from visiting temporary morgues in tsunami-hit areas in order to prevent the emergence of infectious diseases.

2 Japanese aid helicopters arrive on Phuket

PHUKET, Thailand - A Japanese helicopter is unloaded from a Russian transport plane at Phuket International Airport on the Thai resort island on Jan. 2. Two helicopters, which belong to the Tokyo and Osaka fire departments, were sent there to join activities to help the victims of the Dec. 26 tsunami disaster.
