Yavuz Altun, chairman of the Retail Committee of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Happy Center supermarkets, announced that "retail prices will drop in parallel with the decline in inflation." In a written statement released Wednesday, Altun said he had met with persons in charge from other supermarket chains, and all had confirmed they would not be raising prices. Other supermarkets publicly announcing price reductions are Sok, Migros, and Carrefour, which have agreed to fix prices for January and even offer discounts on various items.
