(230301) -- KAJIADO, March 1, 2023 (Xinhua) -- Joshua Sempeta, a 71-year-old father of ten and a patriarch of a Maasai family, is on his way home carrying food aid at a boarding school in Kajiado County, Kenya, Feb. 28, 2023. The Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting central and southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They rely on livestock breeding as their main source of income. Following a historic fifth consecutive failed rainy season in the Horn of Africa, the life of Maasais in Kenya has been severely affected for scores of emaciated livestock have died due to forage grass shortage and water shortage.
