Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region said on Monday that it completed the investment of about 16.3 billion yuan (about 2.34 billion U.S. dollars) on the fixed asset of highway transportation in 2022.
According to the regional transport department, the investment is among the nearly 36.7 billion yuan (about 5.31 billion U.S. dollars) allocated by the central government for the construction of transportation networks in the region in 2022.
The allocation registered a new high, said the department.
Thanks to the investment, 95 percent of its townships and over 78 percent of its villages are now connected by roads.
Another 720 km of highways was put into service last year, extending the total length of highways in the region to 121,400 km.
