The event drew hundreds of participants from Kurdistan and other Iraqi cities, including foreign workers in Iraqi Kurdistan. People of different age groups took part in the marathon, starting from Shanidar Park in the center of Erbil. A prize-giving ceremony of the race was held inside Shanidar Park to award the top five winners from various categories in the presence of the Governor of Erbil and a large crowd of sports enthusiasts. The marathon was collaboratively held by the Erbil Governorate and the Erbil Marathon Organization. Xinhua News Agency
