"When I went upstairs, I saw the monkey jumping around, maybe trying to escape. But the windows were all closed, so it couldn't get out. It looked very anxious and fierce."
The firefighter examined the macaque for any injuries and then released it to a forest far from the village.
The pig-tailed macaque is a national first-class protected wild animal. It lives mostly in high-altitude rainforests, and is common in the southern half of Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sumatra and Bangka Island.
