Girls And Boys Deliver Letters To "Wise Men" In Mexico City

Dozens of girls and boys are taking photos in the facilities of the Postal Palace in the Zocalo of Mexico City, delivering letters to the Three Wise Men, Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthasar, who ''will receive a response from the Star of Bethlehem, which will be delivered to the door of their homes by the Mexican Postal Service.'' According to belief, the Gospel of Saint Matthew mentions that some ''wise men'' who came from the East were guided by a star to worship the king of the Jews who had just been born. The names Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthasar first appeared in the famous 6th-century mosaic in the Basilica of Saint Apollinaris the New in the Italian city of Ravenna.
